We often think about and do actual clear and clean our homes during spring. We change the oil in our car every 3 to 6 months for better performance, how often do we cleanse and clear our body? Here are a few simple practices that you can implement in order to facilitate positive changes in your overall health and skin health:
Analyze the type of foods that you ingest with simple incorporation of detoxifying foods such as dandelion, beets (fabulous for your kidneys) , cilantro (reduces heavy metals), and a “wake up” with the first drink being a large glass of simple warm water and lemon OR ¼ teaspoon of Tumeric in a ½ cup of orange juice. Lemon or Lime water flushes the lymphs, flushes the liver and kidneys, and helps balance the body’s pH.
Incorporate in your routine, a full body exfoliation with a dry brush, and prior to entering the shower or bath for a full body exfoliation and to aid in cleansing toxins through your skin and increase circulation. Body wash is not always a necessity, and after the bath or shower, you can feed your skin with almond oil, avocado oil, good quality extra virgin olive oil (from your kitchen cabinet). Be careful of sites that mention lemon essential oil (it should be avoide if you are pregnant because women in their third trimester can have a miscarriage with Lemon essential oil and other individual… if not properly diluted can be toxic) and pat dry. (Most body washes contain harmful and drying ingredients, and many contain parabens). The aim is to reduce the amount of toxins that penetrate into the permeable skin layers.
Massage introduced into your regular routine will allow lymph to move through the lymphatic system and eliminate stored toxins that enter as well.
The major organs that assist in cleansing and detoxifying our bodies are the skin, liver, kidneys and lungs.
