Cori Cook Floral Design Featured on Bump Smitten!

I love weddings!  I do.  I love being a part of such a special, sacred day!  But, have I told you that I love babies too?!  So let me design your baby shower!  I am really dying to do more fun events like baby showers, bridal showers, engagements parties, ect, ect.

And speaking of babies, I am loving this brand new baby shower-inspired blog called Bump Smitten!  If you are pregnant, it is definitely the place to be to download great ideas for your own baby shower!  Much to my surprise, the gals from Bump Smitten contacted me a few weeks to see if they could use mine and Vanessa's DIY Floral Containers as one of their featured posts!  Of course I said yes!  Click on the pic below to see the full feature.  And to all my amazing brides who are ready to start making a family of their own, don't forget me!  You won't be disappointed (:

All the photos from this shoot are by the talented Vanessa of Flourish Studio Photography!

The Rembrandt Yard Wedding Flowers | Michelle & Eric in Boulder, CO

Oooohhhh!  I just love sharing weddings like this one on my blog---This wedding was a blast from the very beginning! Michelle and Eric are the perfect clients.  They are obviously and completely in love, they are respectful, kind, considerate, and SO MUCH FUN!

This wedding was also the perfect wedding because it was the first time two of my fav buds and I got to work together! Rachel, from Talia Events coordinated the wedding, while the talented Becky Young photographed it (and both did a darn good job in my opinion!)  Beyond loving working with them, both have become true friends and have made my job way more fun!  Plus, in my opinion, when you get the three of us together, the collaboration is dynamic (:

We used a variety of seasonal, local florals like sunflowers, dahlias, bells of ireland, billy balls (my fav!), kale, jasmine, and as you can see...a few others (:  Enjoy these lovely photos compliments of the amazing Becky Young!

Eric & Michelle:  It was truly a pleasure to work with the two of you!  Congratulations on your marriage.  Marriage is such a gift.  Enjoy each other and love each other well!  And keep in touch.  More pizzas on the BBQ soon?!

Evergreen Wedding Flowers | Tamara & Mike

Just wanted to share these lovely pictures of a wedding I did in June at The Pines at Genesee.  I loved designing these bouquets made of succulents, garden roses, calla lilies, light purple freesia, spray roses, veronica, lavender, & lambs ear.

Congratulations to Tamara & Mike!

These lovely photos are by Lisa from Story Lens Photography.  She was covering for Melissa Beck Photography as she begins her journey of motherhood (:  Both are fantastic photographers, so check them out!

3 Blissful Years | Happy Anniversary!

Today marks 3 years of marriage for my husband and me.  When I think about my life and the things that really matter, I am overwhelmed that God gave me Michael.  These 3 years have been marked by growth, trust, hope, God's faithfulness, a ton of love, and a lot of fun.  Just thought I would share a few of my favorite pics from our wedding day.  I wouldn't trade that day for anything in the world.  It was an absolutely perfect start to our marriage.  Enjoy!

These photos were taken by my favorite photographer in the whole world, Amy Squires.  She is now one of the "chicks" that runs Wedding Chicks.  Thank you Amy!  I will always think you are the best (:

Hello 2010!

I know, New Year’s Resolutions are predictable and overdone to some, but I have a confession to make:  I absolutely love making them. The truth is, goal setting and dreaming about what “could be” with a little hard work, a lot of prayer, and a dash of fresh vision makes me giddy.  I never want to be so complacent about my life that I feel as though I could never change, improve, or GROW.  I always want to be growing.  I want to love life.  To live fully, experience the moment, and to live by my passions and values!   So after some hearty self/business examination, I have come up with a few resolutions for Cori Cook Floral Design in 2010 that I feel will foster growth in my business and personal life:

  • In 2010, I am committing to only doing one wedding per weekend.  No exceptions.  I realize this makes me very unique as a floral designer.  Instead of trying to stack the weekend with 3 or 4 weddings, I will be funneling my passion and creativity toward one bride, one wedding, and one gorgeous set of wedding flowers.  Since one of my favorite parts of this job is working with brides, it is my joy to get to know that bride and create a personalized boutique floral design experience that will make her beam on her big day.
  • In 2010, I am committing to only booking 40 weddings.  While this may seem like a lot or a little to some, I am already a quarter of the way there!  The other 13 weekends of 2010, you will find me traveling, spending quality time with my husband, family, and friends, camping, curled up in a chair with a good book, trying out new recipes, and just enjoying this precious gift of life.  What I also love about this new little resolution, is that as I learn more about myself, I have come to realize that time off spent doing nothing and doing non-work-things-that-I-love keeps me creative, passionate, and joyful.  And no, I will not be blogging, or tweeting on those precious weekends (:
  • In 2010, I am committing to upping my game.  I will not be content with the status quo.  I will always be looking for a better way to do things.   A way to stand out.   A more personalized experience for brides.  A more unique bouquet.  A better design.  I commit to being excellent!

Of course I have set all the regular resolutions too, like kicking soda for good, loosing that pesky 10 pounds, and running a half-marathon.  This year is about fresh starts, new beginnings, and a beautifully blank canvas…what do you want yours to say?!

Happy New Year!

Warmly,

Cori Cook
